
Jazmine was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam, her mother is a former back-up singer at Philadelphia International Records. When she was five her father was selected to be City's Historic Strawberry Mansion curator. The family then moved into this historic building. She is a 2005 graduate of Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts where she was a vocal music major. Sullivan began singing in the children's chorus as a contralto after which she was a part of the adult choir just a few years later. Sullivan experienced only a small amount of secular music. She recalls when she was eleven when someone requested her to sing in a solo at church. She wasn't yet ready for. "Then when McDonald's offered a competition to youngsters in the major cities I had the opportunity to perform "Accept What God Gives' on Showtime in the Apollo and the audience responded really well". Stevie Wonder sang her part on his birthday, 13 years old. Sullivan, at age 15 began her career with Jive Records. At the age of 15 the label signed her to Jive Records. The label recorded her entire album there, but it didn't get released. Sullivan was later dismissed from the record label. The singer had a great working relationship and Missy Elliott. Elliott produced numerous tracks for her and tracks, such as "Backstabbers", which was produced by Timbaland.
