Maureen Denise McCormick was born on 5 August 1956 in Woodland Hills California the youngest and only daughter of Richard and Irene McCormick. Her father worked as a school teacher and her mother as an at-home mom. Michael Dennis Kevin is her older brother. She has three siblings. At a young age, McCormick was a singer and dance and would often present puppet shows to kids in the community. She was crowned her first contest, the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley Contest when she was just 6 years old and was then contacted via Pat Domigan, a talent agent from the Jack Wormser Agency. He was interested in her desire to join the show business. McCormick was offered her first gig as a leading actress in 1964. McCormick was in an advertisement for Mattels new doll, Baby Pattaburp. She subsequently starred as Chatty Cathy in a commercial before being cast in Wind It Up and It's Breaks by the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick auditioned to play the oldest daughter in the towheaded trio in The Brady Bunch. The show featured Florence Henderson, Robert Reed and a new blended family. The show lasted five seasons. McCormick stated in her 2008 memoir Heres the Story : Surviving Marcia Brady & Finding My True Voice that she nearly lost her virginity during the fifth season in the presence of Barry Williams, her co-star and brother on screen. The actress was sixteen years older and the actor aged 19 at that moment. The incident would have happened as she describes. But, the time for our relationship was not right.
